Young Living Legend's @Black_Bar0n talks with us about his career and much more

 photo theblackbaronimage1_zps0233aa5f.png

We recently had the chance to sit down with Young Living Legends own Black Baron, to catch up with what he’s been doing. Take a look at the full interview below.

So we had some questions from some fans based on the last short interview we had with you so we here at

LuvIndieHipHop wanted to follow up with you in hopes that we can get the answers the fans really want to know.

So first we ask that you tell us a little about how you got started as an artist?

Being that I was an only child, I started to make up my own rhymes, and by the seventh grade my homie Cleveland taught me a little more and it picked up from there.

So how would you describe your style?

Well I got my flow from my cousin in Ohio who also taught me my delivery, so I don’t have the usual GA style flow on my real music.

And so at that point you decided to go further and pursue a rap career, so tell us how that came about and what are some of the first steps you took?

It was 9th grade when I learned to start recording myself on mix craft free edition ( laugh) and by the time I was in 11th-12th grade I gained the attention of my peers and over all created a really nice buzz, but it was when I went off to college that all of that changed. I came back and the style had changed

So at that point would you say that you had to develop a different approach or were you able to eventually jump right back in?

I was able to watch the trend for a minute. Once I saw the lane open up I took it. Kendrick Lamar really made a lane for trippy/hippy or outspoken music once again in the game. Found my engineer @ayemackp on Instagram and now we do sessions via internet connection.

A lot of artists are struggling with their own cities not supporting them, would you say that you get enough support from your city?

A lot of artist started without the support of their own city. I feel that reverse marketing is a pretty smart idea so I market to everyone but my city. If you can build a fan base outside they will follow within; Sheppard your flock.

Have you thought of any ways to expand yourself as a brand as in clothing, cologne, drinks, etc?

Well I have a team of people that are in other industries of art and fashion all within the hip-hop community. We all link in together because your network is your net worth and I don't see myself going broke anytime soon. Lol

Yes, we defiantly agree with you on that one ;)

Besides rap what are your other talents and or hobbies?

I customize and repair iPhones and smart devices. I own my own repair company which in return helps fund my projects.

What is your favorite food?

I come from a cultural background so I love ox tail, rice and peas with cabbage if I could eat it every day I would. LOL

If you a chance to go and perform anywhere in the world, where is the first place you would go and why?

I'd like to hit Europe travel east Amsterdam UK blow some of that bud you only read about in high times.

Yes, indeed I’ve seen those stories (lol)

If you had a chance to do a song with a singer on the hook, who would it be? And why?

If I could do a hook it would be with @kcamp427, that's the homie from back in the day. He on now and I salute his success, we all putting on for the North side.

Okay, well we will be sure to check him out ;)

Okay well I want to thank you for talking with us today, it’s a pleasure as usual and we wish you the very best in all of your endeavors we of course will be following your career as we support you to the fullest so have fun and enjoy what you’re doing and we will speak again soon with a update on how everything is going.

***NEW MUSIC*** Chox-Mak And Henny Tha Brain - 40 Ounces (Deluxe Single)

Chox-Mak And Henny Tha Brain - 40 Ounces (Deluxe Single) Chox-Mak has been dropping hit after hit lately building his name in the music industry. Not many people know that he has his own artist he is developing as well. With his latest track "40 Ounces" which was originally recorded a couple of months ago to a Bunty Beats production. This track is all about positive vibes and enjoying life to the fullest. Many people that appreciate real hip hop with a rock type twist will love the collaboration. They almost follow in the lane of Run DMC since no one has really done a quality rock hip hop track since Run DMC. They also have a raw hip hop version of the track that will take you back to the 1990's era of hip hop. It is nothing but raw beats and menacing wordplay all through. Chox-Mak and Henny Tha Brain will be releasing alot more material together in the near future. This is just the start for Henny Tha Brain as Chox-Mak will be showing him the ropes of how to make moves in the industry. The remixed rock production was brought by Coaste Beats and the original "40 Ounces" production was brought by Bunty Beats. ***NEW MUSIC*** By Ca$h Kooper and Mr.Frosti as Cold Ca$h

Artists Ca$h Kooper and Mr. Frosti (known together as Cold Ca$h) decided that the only way to start the New Year off right would be to, of course, drop an EP. After hearing Freddie Joachim's "Begonia" they were inspired. The concept, "Timeless Addiction" was brought to the table by Ca$h Kooper. After some discussion, Cold Ca$h came to the agreement that the tape would embody their lives, and those things that they're addicted to on the daily; things that have moved from a habit to a lifestyle, and will continue to be a lifestyle until the end of their time. All of these beats were made by Freddie Joachim! Thank you to all who have supported us through our beginning stages and to those who continue to support us as we grow. It ain't nothing but love.

***NEW MUSIC *** Substance Abuse feat. KRS-One "Rear View" remix Kutmasta Kurt

What age where you when you decided to become an artist?

Eso: As long as I can remember, I always wanted to be a rapper (cue Goodfellas theme music).  On the reals, it was just a broader culture that we were a part of and being an emcee was how I fit in.  I was a way of being cool without being illegal.  And I felt I could reach a wide range of people of all walks of life more easily with rap then with anything else.

Name a few of your biggest influences in hip hop?

Eso: Nas, Hiero, De La Soul, Organized Konfusion

What are some of the things you’re working on right now?

Eso: being a lawyer, and being an emcee.  I passed the California Bar this year and I’m learning that in the adult world being an aesthete seems to have very little cachet.  Everyone is about their paper and suddenly I’m supposed to be too.  But I’m still writing and formulating and we’re working on a 3rd album that’s full of surprises.  I’m still a b-boy at heart.

What advise can you give other upcoming artists?

Eso: It depends on what you want out of it.  If you’re trying to blow up keep in mind you’re going up against Selena Gomez and songs that people play on youtube before they go out and get sloshed.  Most people don’t care about what sample you used or how you’re a dope freestyler.  If you have a lion heart like Subz and I do you will find people that will appreciate what you’re trying to do.  The key is to expand that following.

How has life changed for you since becoming an artist?

Eso: the homies used to clown.  But now in every jam I’m the f**king man.

Have you had the pleasure of performing yet?

Eso: many times.  And there is much more to come.  I won’t stop ‘til I see my future wifey in the front row.

Are there any artists/talent that you’ve worked with that we should be watching?

Eso: look out for RCKLSS ABNDN FILMS who directed our dope video “Paper Tigers” featuring Myka 9 and Percee P.  And our peeps Meanest Man Contest, some of the most original raptastic ass mofos you will ever hear on the mic.  Big ups to Kutmasta Kurt too for always having our back.  He is far more interesting than that Dos Equis guy and he makes better beats too.  Philm One and Da Stig are on the come up.  And of course Waes One, our Nor-Cal Fam Bam.
